PPS Advisory Board gains eight scientists

The Pemphigus & Pemphigoid Society is pleased and honored to announce the appointment of eight prominent scientists to our Medical Adisory Board. These distinguished researchers and physicians bring a wealth of expertise and experience to our organization. We look forward to working with them to help educate pemphigus and pemphigoid patients worldwide.

Dr. BeutnerDr. Beutner is an Immunologist, Director of Beutner Labs, and Professor Emeritus at the University at Buffalo. His group discovered the autoimmune cause of pemphigus and pemphigoid and now provides proficiency tests for their diagnosis. He has over 330 publications in the field and many awards in his 48 year career in immunology.

Dr. ConnollyA graduate of Yale, Dr. Connolly is Director of the Autoimmune Clinic and Co-director of the Immunofluorescence Laboratory. She publishes often and reviews medical articles for a number of journals. In addition to many other awards and honors, she was named one of The Best Doctors in America from 1997 to 2003.

Dr. FelicianiDr. Feliciani is one of Europe’s top experts in pemphigus and pemphigoid. In addition to publishinga long list of medical articles, he reviews them for a number of prominent journals. He is also on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine And Surgery and the International Journal of Immunophatology and Pharmacology.

Dr. GaetaDr. Gaeta is Professor of Oral Medicine and a long time Member of the Board of the Italian Society of Oral Pathology and Oral Medcine. He also lectures at the University of Medicine in Florence, Genova and Naples, Italy and Nice, France. His first postion as instructor was in Nutrition. Member of National Project Pre.Di.Ca.

Dr. MargolisDr. Margolis is a Professor at UCSF and Director of the prestigious Francis I. Proctor Foundation. He is a prolific researcher and popular speaker. He reviews medical articles for several journals and has been awarded a number of NIH grants. Among his many honors is the Research to Prevent Blindness Lew Wasserman Award.

Dr. MarinkovichDr. Marinkovich is Director of the Stanford Autoimmune Bullous Disease Clinic and is active developing gene therapy for inherited blistering diseases. He was named one of The Best Doctors in America from 1997 to 2003. He was honored with the Stelwagon and Gold Awards by the AAD and has a long list of medical journal articles.

Dr. TaylorDr. Mosqueda is a professor and President of the Ibero American Academy of Oral Pathology and Medicine and Honorary Professor at the National Institute of Cancerology. He has pulished over 50 articles and several book chapters. His Master’s degree was earned at the University of London and studied oral medicine at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano in Peru.

Dr. ThompsonDr. Thompson is an active and innovative educator, author, consultant and researcher with a range of interests that includes geriatric, therapeutic and sports nutrition, and physical education. She is a popular lecturer to civic, professional and lay audiences. Dr. Thompson also participates in health and nutrition programs and events on local, state and national levels.
